Heritage Week 17th-25th August 2019

Over the years since our first public meeting on 18th April 2009 we have had several names from the original Blanchardstown Heritage Society-Cumann Oidhreacht Bhaile Bhlainseir to Fingal south to Fingal South west to Blanchardstown-Castleknock History Society, What is important is not our name but our intentions which is to bring people together in an atmosphere of trust where they can share knowledge on topic of history, culture and heritage along with regular outings to places of interest, we try to cater to all needs being aware that some people have an academic approach to history and others are interested in keeping the traditions of our ancestors alive in old and new ways.

Blanchardstown/Castleknock History Society was established for people living in the Dublin 15 area to, attend talks and outings on historic subjects. The AGM takes place on the last Saturday of January

Talks take place in a room in the Blanchardstown Public Library, there is no charge for the individual talks, the annual membership is €20 per person.

Outings
We meet at the venue, usually at 2pm. Annual membership fees may be paid at the venue, entry fees will be collected separately where applicable.

The Christmas meal takes place in December in details will be made available closer to the time.

We are associated with the Heritage Network and join with the members in participating in ‘Heritage Week’ and ‘Cultural Night’, and The Federation of Local History Societies who send updates from other societies around the country.

I would like to give my talk on Delia Murphy, singer, to your Society. Her last place of residence was The Strawberry Beds. The talk is illustrated by my singing her songs. I am a niece of Delia. We have performed at many venues, including Stillorgan, Gorey, and Blackrock Historical Societies. My Tel: 0868882014
